What SpectArk does with your files

Full Disk Access

Because macOS protects folders like Desktop and Documents, SpectArk asks for Full Disk Access so it can read the files you want to back up. That permission is granted by you in System Settings and is used solely to copy your selected folders to your chosen destination.

Information we do not collect

Network access

SpectArk's only outbound connection is the automatic update check: it fetches a signed release feed (appcast) from GitHub to see whether a newer version is available, and downloads the update if you choose to install it. This request goes to GitHub and includes only what a normal download requires (such as your IP address and app version); it carries none of your files or backup content. Backing up to a NAS communicates only with the destination on your own network. You can disable automatic update checks in the app.

Third parties

Update checks and downloads are served by GitHub, subject to their privacy policy. SpectArk itself shares nothing else with any third party.

Children's privacy

SpectArk is a general-purpose utility and is not directed to children. It collects no personal information from anyone.

Changes to this policy
